Simple guide to create your own website

Creating a website is easy, but create a good, beautiful website is another story. To have a website, the most important thing is web hosting and a web domain. Web hosting is a service that stores your web site documents on internet servers that let people view your website. A web domain is the address of your website. For example,google.com, yahoo.com, nba.com etc… those web addresses are examples of web domains.

Let’s talk about cost. You can register a domain for $2o/ year, and hosting around $5/month. The other route you can go is go for sub domain which is free. For example, 2itb.com offers free sub domain and domain web hosting. One example for the sub domain is www.you.2itb.com. While free is good, but I recommend paid hosting and your own domain.

Now, let talks about the making of a websites and HTML. The programming language for the website is HTML. At this point, you have to ask yourself what do you really want?

A. Just a website for you or your business
or
B. Really want to understand and get into web design.

Simply, if you just want a website, then there is no need to learn HTML coding really. What you need is to learn how to create a website which doesn’t require you to learn how to code HTML. There are so many ways to skin a cat right? If you are willing to spend some money then just hire some one to do it for you. It doesn’t have to cost a lot. For example, at likedesign.com it only cost your roughly $200 dollars for a site. You can choose to do it yourself using web site builder. Godaddy.com has a nice plan, nice builder which cost you very little to build a website. I’ll dedicate another post on this topic where you can have a website less than a day and less than $5 dollars a month. Sound good right? Now with so many tools, making a website is really that easy.

Now, if you really want to get in web design and want to learn it, I’ll help you get started. As mention above, HTML is the most basic. There is no need to really know HTML to design since there are so many tools such as Dream Weaver , or Front Page that let you design your page. Still, HTML is not hard to learn and you need to learn HTML to be able to design affectively.

First off, to start design, you’ll need a HTML editor. If you can, get a hand on Dream Weaver or Front Page. They can be pricy, so as an alternative you can download a free editor Kompozer. There are many free editors out there, try out to see which one you like best.

After you have an HTML editor and make you first page, need a tool call FTP client which allows you to transfer file to your server, and web hosting account. You can get free one at WINSCP . It’s an awesome FTP client.

That’s all you’ll need to get started. If you are still interested please continue reading my posts below or click on the How to build a website category to the right.
